COPYRIGHT SERVICES
Protect the work only
you could have created.
Registration and enforcement for software, literary, artistic, musical, dramatic and cinematographic works.

WHY IT MATTERS
Copyright exists
automatically. Proof does not.
Copyright arises the moment an original work is created — but when a dispute begins, you have to prove authorship and the date of creation. A registration certificate is the simplest, cheapest evidence you can hold.
Registration also makes licensing, assignment and investor due diligence far easier, particularly for software companies and content businesses where the code or catalogue is the balance sheet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Copyright questions we hear often.
Do I have to register to own copyright?
No. Copyright subsists automatically in an original work. Registration is optional but gives you prima facie evidence of ownership, which matters when you have to enforce.
How long does copyright last in India?
For literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works, the life of the author plus sixty years. Films, sound recordings and photographs are protected for sixty years from publication.
Can I copyright an idea?
No. Copyright protects the expression of an idea, not the idea itself. Ideas and functional concepts may be protectable as patents or trade secrets instead.
Who owns work created by an employee or a contractor?
Employee work created in the course of employment usually vests in the employer. Contractor work often does not, unless assigned in writing. We draft the assignments that close this gap.
Have original work to register?
Tell us what you have created and we will confirm the right category, the deposit requirements and the cost.
